Alexandre Street holds an M.Sc. and a D.Sc. (PhD) in electrical engineering (emphasis in operations research) from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From 2003 to 2007, he participated in several projects related to strategic bidding in the Brazilian energy auctions and market regulation at the Power System Research Consulting (PSR), Rio de Janeiro. From August 2006 to March 2007, he was a visiting researcher at the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, Ciudad Real, Spain.

At the beginning of 2008, he joined the Electrical Engineering Department at PUC-Rio, where he is currently an Associate Professor and teaches energy economics for graduate students and optimization and statistics for both graduate and undergrad students. He is one of the founders of the Laboratory of Applied Mathematical Programming and Statistics (LAMPS) at PUC-Rio. He is currently the research director of LAMPS and conducts applied research to solve real-world problems of industry agents and society.

Alexandre Street is a senior member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society and CNPq senior scientist. He serves as an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems (TPWRS) and for the IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy (OAJPE). He has extensive experience as peer-reviewer, serving as a voluntary referee to the top three power systems and operations research scientific journals since 2007.

His research interests include: energy economics and electricity market design, strategic models for decision making under uncertainty in energy markets, robust and stochastic optimization models for power systems operation and planning, time-series probabilistic forecasting and data-science applications in renewable energy, decomposition methods for large-scale optimization models, quantitative finance.
