Workshop in Chile: Decarbonizing Power Systems Under Uncertainty

Invited by Professors Ángela Flores Quiroz and Rodrigo Moreno from the Universidad de Chile and organized by ISCI Instituto, I presented on May 29, 2025, at the workshop “Descarbonizando los sistemas eléctricos bajo incertidumbre” (Decarbonizing Power Systems Under Uncertainty) held in Santiago, Chile, for key stakeholders of the Chilean power sector. In my talk, entitled “Subsidies, Auctions, and Expansion in Brazil”, I shared key lessons learned by the Brazilian power sector over the past 15 years regarding market design for generation expansion.

On May 30, I also gave a lecture at the Universidad de Chile on the effects of biased inflow forecasts on the operation of the Brazilian power system.
